If you’re a British Airways Executive Club member and hold the BA American Express Premium Plus credit card, there’s now a powerful new way to fast-track your status without even stepping foot on a plane. British Airways has finally launched the long-awaited tier point earning benefit for BA Amex Premium Plus cardholders, rewarding high spenders with up to 2,500 tier points through everyday transactions. After months of silence and growing demand, this update puts serious tier upgrades within reach, especially for frequent business travellers, high-value leisure bookers, and those managing spend through their company card.
From 18 June 2025 to 1 February 2026, cardholders can now earn tier points based on their eligible spend after enrolment. Here’s the breakdown:
- Spend £15,000 to earn 750 tier points
- Spend £20,000 to unlock an additional 750 tier points
- Spend £25,000 and you’ll earn a further 1,000 tier points
- Plus, all existing cardholders will receive 500 tier points automatically as a thank you from BA
To qualify, you must enrol via your American Express online account or app by 25 January 2026. Only purchases made after enrolment will count.
Why This Matters
British Airways updated its tier point system in April 2025 to reward travellers based on spend rather than distance. However, cardholders were left waiting for their benefit to be introduced.
This update closes the loop. Now, your everyday purchases can bring you closer to Bronze, Silver, or even Gold Executive Club status. It’s especially useful for business travellers who book hotels, trains, or client spend through their card.
Will This Continue After February 2026?
BA has not yet confirmed whether this exact structure will continue past 1 February 2026. However, they have stated that more tier point earning opportunities will be introduced from April 2026.
